Dynamic Training delivers the Highfield Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Medication Handling and Administration for Care Settings (RQF), a nationally recognised qualification designed to build safe, confident, and compliant practice across health and social care. This knowledge-based programme develops the essential understanding required to handle, record, store, and support the administration of medicines in line with legislation, guidance, and agreed ways of working.

Learners will explore the full medicines pathway, from receipt and storage through to recording, administration, monitoring, and disposal anchored in safeguarding, person-centred care, and audit. The programme is suitable for a wide range of care environments, including residential and nursing services, domiciliary care, supported living, clinics, and private practice settings. With accessible online delivery and structured support, learners build confidence and competence while balancing work and study.

Workshop Breakdown: What Will Participants Learn

Session 1: Foundations of Safe Medicines Practice

  • Types and purposes of medication; key information on labels and MARs
  • Roles and responsibilities within medicines processes
  • Agreed ways of working; legislation, guidance, and organisational policy
  • Record-keeping standards; confidentiality and information governance

Workshop 2: Receiving, Storing, Supplying and Disposing of Medication

  • Receiving and checking medicines; prescriptions and supply procedures
  • Safe storage, security, temperature control, and stock rotation
  • Recording requirements across the medicines cycle
  • Safe and lawful disposal procedures; incident reporting and audit

Workshop 3: Administering Medicines, Risk and Safeguarding

  • Preparing to administer medicines; consent and capacity principles
  • Methods of administration; promoting independence and self-administration
  • Risk assessment; recognising and responding to errors or adverse effects
  • Safeguarding responsibilities; escalating concerns; audit and improvement

Learners complete assigned workbooks and activities and upload evidence to their e-portfolio.
