Summary and Purpose of Role

As a Functional Skills Additional Learning Needs Coordinator/Tutor, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of high-quality of teaching, learning and assessment for adult learners within subject specific areas: Functional Skills English & Math Entry Level 2 – Level 2 accredited qualifications. You will be expected to plan teach and support learners to complete their functional skills qualifications, gathering and maintaining evidence of continued teaching, learning and assessment. You will conduct evidenced judgements to request reasonable adjustments, considering mental health and behavioural needs where applicable. You will plan, create, and update individualised support plans and support sessions and provide current info, updates and reports to Dynamic, aligned to the current Apprenticeship Funding Rules and Dynamic’s policies and procedures.

Functional Skills Tutor - main duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review maths and English functional skills support session plans, scheme of work and teaching and learning materials using initial assessments and marked work to consider the learners individual, additional learning needs.
  • Plan and deliver engaging an exciting training session to inspire and motivate learners in classroom and workplace environment, depending on employer requirements.
  • Work remotely from home and may travel to workplace sessions to deliver planned functional skills sessions to individuals and small groups.
  • Complete initial assessment activities and agree individual learning plans. With learners.
  • To improve learner's experience through providing ongoing support as required.
  • Prepare learners for examinations to gain the appropriate qualifications.
  • To effectively develop and adapt the Functional Skills curriculum and delivery to meet the needs of disadvantaged, those with special educational needs, additional learning needs and marginalised individuals – ensuring a robust successful learner journey.
  • To identify current and future teaching, learning and wider professional development requirements, in conjunction with our focus on Inclusivity and supporting individuals with additional learning needs, disabilities, and or autism.
  • Continually monitor and review learners progress via caseload management, Individual training plans and Cognassist plans/records where applicable
  • Assist in the writing, design, and development of curriculum planning, and standardisation meetings.
  • Monitor and record learner attendance, punctuality and progress.
  • Deliver group teaching sessions using Dynamic training’s teaching and learning resources via remote Teams and or face-to face (If required)
  • To provide learners with one-to-one support. In a contextualised setting where applicable.
  • Act on feedback from teaching, observations, employers, peers, or other review processes. Undertake necessary training to professionally develop and keep abreast with current practise and legislation within the sector which addresses Additional Learning Needs
  • Attend planning and Coordination meetings as required.
  • Invigilate exams when needed.
  • Deliver Speaking, Listening and communication development and assessment sessions from entry level 3 to Level 2 English functional skills

Other:

  • Contribute to and sub-manage small projects relating to Dynamic’s Functional Skills provision.
  • To perform any other duties consistent with this position as may from time to time be assigned to you anywhere within the company.

  • Organise and maintain a CPD file ensuring current occupational competence is up to date and recorded.
